Lisa - Age 49

  1. When you came to the workshop what inspired you to come and take part?

I’ve done a number of workshops with Lisa and have loved what they’ve given me and the art I’ve produced as a result. I heard about the first workshop in Whitchurch and thought it was a great idea, to connect women with their amazing bodies through intuitive art in a supportive space alongside other women, and facilitated by Lisa.

  2. What did you receive, get to understand or learn about yourself and your body from creating your art on the I Am Woman day?

I was able to reconnect with my body as nature, and see the strength and power in that. It was quite a revelation.

  3. What does it mean to you to have a female body in our modern day world?

I think it’s more important than ever to celebrate and honour my body for the incredible source of power that it is, especially in today’s world where the internet (and particularly social media) is filled with unrealistic images of women, and photographs and videos are photoshopped so much that it’s impossible to tell what is even real any more. We need to start to celebrate our perfect imperfections and know that we are enough, just as we are.

  4. How do you feel about your body today?

Grateful and honoured. My body has seen me through life to this point: she has walked thousands of miles, swam in the sea, climbed mountains, birthed two wonderful babies, fed them and sustained their lives too. My body IS me and she’s brilliant.
