The painting ‘Embodying Codes' was painted as a response to spending time in the ancient temples of Gozo and Malta. In particular the Hypogeum of Ħal Saflieni - an underground Temple over 5000 years old carved out of the rock that has many chambers, levels and passages. Initiates of the Mysteries practiced rituals honouring the cycle of life and death here. Its Oracle Chamber dubbed in red ochre symbols created to amplify sound through the whole Temple and alter the state of consciousness of those present. Coded frequencies of initiation imbue the whole Temple including deep within a chamber called the Holy of Holies.
