The Power of Yule
The Yule period is a powerful spiritual time of year. One that is lost in our bling culture of Christmas with mass consumerism, overspending, and all the pressures of our modern-day culture.
This has been steadily overlayed through the centuries over an ancient honouring and practice of listening, dreaming, visioning, and manifesting the light of the new solar consciousness which seeds at Winter Solstice with the birth of the Sun.
I have found on my spiritual journey that through the practising of seasonal rites of passage, you can attune into the Feminine way to find who you truly are stripped back of the momentum of the world and its cultural pressures. Creating the space for devotional activities of ritual and celebration supports you to unplug from the linear worldview, patriarchal influences and align with the natural and powerful creativity of Mother Nature, and her mirror into your authentic nature. Over the years I have learnt to harness the power, beauty, and creative opportunity available at these potent seasonal turning points known as Sabbats or Holy Days, for my own conscious growth and evolution.
As a woman growing in my knowing of Sacred Essence, I have found that one of the key questions has always been – how do I bring alive this knowingness into my life? In a mind made world that doesn’t recognise the love and beauty of Sacred Essence or honour the Feminine. How do I bring alive this taste of the subtle inside that calls me to grow, evolve and to step into the potential available to me. I see creativity is the key. As an artist I am passionate about creating art and expressing the inner realms through my art with meaning and resonance. Yet creativity isn’t confined just to a canvas. Creativity is a response to the knowing of your soul and your relationship to the Divine. It is about getting to know who you truly are beyond the conditional learning and giving shape to that in your life. That’s the highest creativity you could possibly engage in. This to me is pure creativity.
To support me in life and in my own creative practise I have been working with the Wheel of the Year for 8 years now. Plus I have facilitated an online program for 5 years based on the rhythm of the seasons and accessing your creative power for growth and transformation. This practise has underpinned my life and alongside working with these seasonal turnings, I have also been consciously practising with the window of Yule for several years now. Most people know of the 12 days of Yule which is a Pagan tradition associated with Winter Solstice. The Solstice itself has been celebrated in many ancient cultures going back thousands of years into pre-history and is a pivotal time to tune in and align with the Divine - to vision, create and manifest the new in the Solar Cycle ahead. It’s the birth of the spiritual sun inside and a time to carve out even a small amount of space each day to listen and reflect on what is truly calling inside of you. It is such a pivotal and sacred time in the year and one that you can tap into and set the tone for your year ahead.
There are portals of transition throughout the 12 days of Yule, and you can work with the frequencies of the Triple Goddess and the Sacred Masculine in such a powerful and life affirming way. Aligning with these transitional windows as four sets of three days that are aligned with the frequencies of the Maiden, Mother, Crone, and the Sacred Masculine you can consciously activate the divine gifts seeding in you into practical manifestation. You can practically lay the ground for the next Solar Cycle. From the subtle, inner, spiritual realms of knowing to creating a powerful, life affirming vision from your soul for your year ahead.
It’s good to remember all that constitutes our modern-day Christmas quickly followed by New Year Resolutions may dominate our cultures perspective, but they are just shadows of a much deeper ritual and celebration. One that is available to you. All that is required is to find small reflective moments each day, to tune in, with love and devotion and to consciously listen to the voice of your soul and the birth of its light inside of you.
