Flock of Birds Inspiration
Create a Bird As Part Of An Art Installation For My Upcoming Exhibition
You may know that my exhibition has been born from an ingathering of feathers through my journey of menopause. Life led me to dive deeper in bird symbolism and particularly the ancient veneration of the Bird Goddess across many neolithic cultures over the last few years. So birds not only feature as totems and teachings in the artwork of each of the 8 archetypal Goddess’s to be exhibited - but the whole exhibition is in honour and dedication to the Bird Goddess, who is also known as the Great Goddess.
So the other day I was in the studio working on the book and workbook that will be released at the Reclaiming the Wild’ Art & Audio Exhibition and I had a vision to create a flock of birds which will hang from the ceiling as you enter the exhibition as an installation. And what better way to create a whole flock of birds than to invite you and anyone who would like to take part to create, paint, colour a bird and send it in to me to hang. After all… a flock is more than one bird!
The Flock of Birds Installation
It would be so wonderful to have lots of individually created birds. And it is very simple to do. Here is how it will work:
Click the button below to email me that you would like to take part.
I will send you a few different template outlines of birds that you can then choose one that you like best and print it off at home on A4 card or thick heavy gram paper. (or you could cut it out and use the shape as a stencil, or create your own!)
Paint, crayon, pencil, colour the bird in on both sides. It doesn’t have to look like the exact bird and its colours. You can create any colour, designed bird you like - be creative and express!
Cut your bird out and post it to me. I need to receive them by Friday 11th October at the latest. I will give you my home address details when you get in touch as my Studio & Gallery is not able to accept post.
I will hang your bird as part of the ‘Flock of Birds’ installation at my exhibition.
It is not lost on me the symbolism of what I asking. Since ancient times a flock of birds has held deep spiritual significance including representing unity, harmony and a sense of belonging within a larger community. I can’t think of a better way to honour the ancient Bird Goddess than to see a flock of beautiful birds gathered in her honour and created by all of US.
